Studio D"artisan Men"s 14 oz Selvedge Sashiko Jacket - Type II Style - Deep Indigo One Wash - Made in Japan (SDA 4619)
This men"s casual jacket is made in Japan by Studio D"artisan (SDA), a brand renowned for its vintage-inspired craftsmanship. This piece is a modern reinterpretation inspired by the classic Type II denim jacket and crafted from sashiko fabric produced using the brand"s unique fabric-making techniques, giving it a more distinctive texture. Finished with the brand"s signature attention to detail throughout, it balances vintage workwear character with everyday wearability, blending heritage aesthetics with modern style in a way that fits naturally into a contemporary casual wardrobe. For this model, Studio D"artisan uses a 14-ounce selvedge sashiko cloth made from 100% cotton. Unlined and non-stretch, the fabric is woven from both warp and weft yarns that are indigo-dyed using the traditional kase-zome (skein-dyeing) technique, in which the yarns are dyed in skein form before weaving for deep and even color penetration. It is then densely woven on old-style power looms to recreate the character of traditional Japanese textiles. A specialized weaving technique produces a running-stitch-like pattern across the base fabric, giving it a richly raised and uneven surface texture. Selvedge detail appears along the inside of the front placket. As part of the finishing process, the garment has been pre-washed, also known as one-wash, to help minimize shrinkage. With its unlined construction, the jacket remains versatile across much of the year and is especially well suited for spring and fall wear. In terms of construction, the jacket features a five-button front closure, stitched-down double pleats set on either side of the center placket below the front yoke, and a pointed collar with no collar stand. It has four exterior pockets, including twin flap chest pockets with button closures and two side-entry handwarmer pockets at the waist. The back is detailed with shallow, understated side pleats below the shoulder yoke. Additional details include single-button cuffs with rivet-reinforced cuff slits and buttoned adjuster tabs at both sides of the back hem. The buttons are antique-finished metal buttons, each engraved with the brand logo.
